The Design Element

As usual, this section of sites offer up some fresh takes on how sites should be laid out. At times alternate layouts can be annoying, inspiring, helpful and destructive. There are many good reasons for the patterns that have formed, and at the same time, they are nothing more then patterns. There are no hard rules. These sites challenge our preconceived notions of how a layout should be structured. Whether they function well or not is almost irrelevant in terms of just plain making us think about why we do things the way we do.
