The Design Element

Sure most of these sites could have gone into either the black or the white category, but their stark black and white nature really strikes me. I can't help but ponder a connection between the simple beauty of the color usage and the appeal of black and white photography. Something about simple b&w photos is so remarkably beautiful and the same seems to apply to these sites. To me this feels like the sort of revelation that you don't get everyday. I can't say that I have ever considered making a b&w design, but after seeing the beauty of them it makes me want to find a reason to use this style of design.

Nice collection. Personally, I think designing a black and white site was one of the more difficult things I've done in some time.

P.S. I think the suggest site form may be broken.

I'm designing a black and white site at the moment. I'm not a web designer or graphic guy and it is definately one the hardest things to do, particularly when trying to keep it clean, minimal, engaging and usable.
