Dog Ears Part 2
2nd edition — by Patrick McNeil — Dec. 13, 2007
The Design Element
In the first edition of the topic of dog ears I failed to really note a useful aspect of this visual element. Dog ears can be a very effective tool for attracting attention. Perhaps your trying to control the flow of the page, or need to create a strong focal point. What ever the goal the design element can be a handy tool. Other visual devices serve similar purposes, things like the badge or radial element. Unlike those elements though the dog ear tends to be more subtle, and uniquely it can allude to content that is contained behind a button or element.
