The Site Type

I get lots of portfolios sent my way, so this section just keeps growing. I am still on my rant about focusing on highly effective and easy to use portfolios and almost all of these reflect that. There is one odd ball in the bunch though, a flash site that caught my attention. This one harkens back to the days when portfolios were so complex it was annoying. This one has the flash style, but isn't to hard to use. Somehow a nice balance has been struck between usability and sizzle.

In contrast there are several gimmicky javascript based portfolios in the bunch ( Benny Martinson and Francesco Mugnai ). While these haven't ventured into the unusable territory, they are at the edge of it. But isn't that the goal? To push the boundary and see what the edge looks like. As a result they have an interesting freshness to them. They really aren't hard to use and the motion of it all creates a more unique experience

Despite all this flash and sizzle, I am still a huge fan of uber clear and usable. Progressive Red, Mindnever.com and Alexandru Cohaniuc being prime examples.
