The Design Element

The use of tags (as in hanging price tags) is another one of these minor patterns that shows up in web design. Perhaps I just browse too many sites. What ever the case, there is at least a handful of sites that have used this element. Essentially the element serves the same purpose as elements like the badge or radial pattern. While those elements are very bold, the tag is a more subtle way of drawing attention to a certain element. In many of these designs it is the angled natured of the tag which draws the attention. It is pretty remarakble actually that just tilting the tag at an angle can give it such emphasis in the design.

Sometimes a design element like this can be a simple flourish on a site and at other times the same element can become the defining factor for an entire site. This defiing factor approach is what we find on Big Sweater Design. This site turns the idea of a clothing tag into a full on theme for the site. It is really amazing the transformation that happens on a site when it uses a theme such as this. The entire process not only becomes more fun, but as a visitor I become even more intrigued by the site. It turns a statndard site into an experience.

Wow, I´m in the Meltdown! It´s an honor. Thank you. :)

I´ve been a DesignMeltDown reader and user for a long time now. It´s pretty validating to see my work up here among some seriously terrific design. You even mention me in the write-up...I´m so flattered.

Thanks again. Very much.
