Single Stripe

1st edition — by Patrick McNeil — Mar. 9, 2007

The Design Element

This is certainly one of the least interesting trends, but none the less, it is a trend! And where there are meaningless trends, Design Metldown is sure to venture there. Besides, it finally floated to the top of the list sorted by number of samples. So If your thinking about having one big fat stripe across your background, check these sites out.

Some of them actually do some interesting things with the element. Most interestingly when they have the background stripe interact with the foreground of the site creating M.C. Escheresc illusions.

always interested in the places you venture-no rock goes unturned...

I´m using this stripe effect on my website as well, and the main reason I´m doing this is because the I need the page to fit into the 800by600 screen resolution, and stripes seem like a good way to balance out all the spaces that are left at the sides.
