The Design Element

The previous edition of Super Clean was by far one of the most well received articles on Design Meltdown to date. So much so that I quickly assembled yet another fantastic list of Super Clean sites.

A couple of the sites really stand out to me, the first of which is Whalesalad. This is one of the most beautiful sites I have seen in a while. It completely embodies everything I am looking for in a Super Clean site. The typography on the site is outstanding. The best thing about the typography for me is how it becomes the focus of the page. Sure at first, the high contrast pink box catches your eye, but after that the typography is completely the focus. How perfect this is to, since it is a blog after all. Perhaps the most amazing thing about this site is the fact that the creator is a 16yr old high school kid. Wow, keep your eyes on this one!

The next site that really catches my eye is Protolize. I am sure most of you have seen this one by now, but it is worth another visit, if not just for the aesthetics. Again, the site is rather simple, or at least it looks that way at first. The visual elements that go into this one are extremely detailed. Lot of fine touch's that pull off a complete and wonderful design.

This set of sites is not for the faint hearted, clicking through my result in vast discouragement as you realize some people really bring some serious game to the table. This set does nothing but inspire me to focus and work harder.

Hi!
Really nice to see that you find my site (www.gate303.net) to fall under your motivation: "This set of sites is not for the faint hearted, clicking through my result in vast discouragement as you realize some people really bring some serious game to the table. This set does nothing but inspire me to focus and work harder." =)

It is so wonderful to read that my site is a inspiration for you (despite the fact that it is in swedish)!

Greetings
Kristoffer

Yeah, I have no idea what your site is saying, but the design is certainly inspiring.

Thanks! =)
I am really thinking of writing in english instead of swedish. The site is sort of a personal blog combined with some general articles regarding IT, privacy and politics.

Check back soon and you might find posts in english =)

Thanks for the kind words about my site (mattandnancy.org). It's got a few quirks related to "equal height columns" but It's one of my favorite designs I've done.

Great site you have here, I'll have to check it out.
