The Design Element
This is another category on the site I just can't manage to keep up on.
This design element is heavily used. I think you will find the samples attached
to this chapter especially nice, there were just so many great examples of
this element to pick from.
The range of usage is really wide. Some sites use it in very subtle ways.
Speak Up
for example has very fine pixel style ornate elements that add to the overall
interest, and are used to help add weight to certain elements, reinforcing
the hierarchy of the site. The pixel style continues on other site like
Cuartopiso
,
Toni Greavees
, and
Nidha.
Many sites of course use the element to reinforce the theme behind the site. Iron-On Resistance
uses the iron age kind of idea and the decorative ornaments reinforce this
concept. Johnny Cash is of course best known as a country music star and
the ornamental decoration on his site goes a long way to create the right
kind of atmosphere for the site.
These really are some great samples, the first six are exceptionally interesting,
the diversity of usage is just amazing to me.
